Libby Day:
She is the main protagonist in this novel. Since her family's murder, she became a foster child. At the age of 32, she is unemployed, relying on the money left from the funds and there is not much left. Money has always been a problem to her. Thus, she steals things for a living. When the Kill Club sends her a letter regarding Ben's case, they offers money to Libby only if she can provide any evidences. This eventually makes Libby to want to re-invest the case once again.
Ben Day:
He is known as one of the the main antagonist in this novel. He was a rebellious teenager who disobeyed his mother and became the talk of the town. From dying his hair to hanging out with the gang, Ben has done it all. He does not have a good reputation because he hangs out with "Devil Worshippers" (including Ben, Trey, and Diondra). Ben is the odd one out of his family, since he is the only man in the house. At the age of 15, Ben was sentenced to prison for life. He is accused of killing his mother and sisters. Ben accused himself as the killer and decided to defend Diondra instead.
Patty Day:
She is the mother of Libby, Michelle, Debby and Ben. She is a single mother who struggles to raise her kids due to financial issues. Patty will sacrifice anything to protect her children, including her life. Patty does not have a good relationship with her ex-husband, Runner.
Michelle Day:
Michelle is the second eldest sibling. Michelle and Ben do not get along well. They are complete opposites. Michelle knows about everyone's darkest secrets. She keeps a diary with her everywhere she goes. She was the only one that knows Diondra is pregnant.
Debby Day:
Debby is the second youngest sibling. She does not have a good relationship with Ben either. Debby is murdered by Calvin Diehl, simply because she witnessed the murder of her mother.
Runner Day:
Runner is a troubled ex-husband, father and drug dealer. He reappears in the book from time to time. Runner always asks money from Patty and does not provide child support for his children.

Lyle Wirth:
Lyle is a member of the Kill Club. The club is known for re-opening and analyzing cold cases. Lyle convinced Libby to re-open the case. He will give money to Libby if she brings in any evidences or clues from the past.
Calvin Diehl:
He is a hired hit man. He is the killer who Patty hired to kill herself. Calvin ends up killing Debby even though it is not part of his mission. For the first time, he thought himself as a murderer.
Krissi Cates:
The Days sisters are friends with Krissi. The ten year old comes off from a wealthy family. When she was younger, she was in a relationship with Ben. Krissi's actions destroyed her perfect family.
Diondra:
Diondra is a wealthy and bratty character. She is Ben's girlfriend. Later in the novel, Diondra becomes pregnant and raises her daughter as a secret.
Crystal:
She is the daughter of Ben and Diondra. Crystal is 24 years old, and she was kept as a secret.
Trey:
Trey hangs out with Diondra and Ben.
